Cynicism Overdose

In the stark white room of a doctor’s office,
picture the armband with which your blood pressure is taken.
Its purpose is healthy and true,
but achieves such purpose through testing limits.

I find parallels with the constricting of my heart;
when it is squeezed too harshly by the problems of the world,
it weeps and criticism is nutured to hatred.
The stockholm syndrome of the world is
an effort to keep our hearts from being crushed.
